Program Overview
KIDS is an intensive home‑based social intervention that directly brings a specially trained therapist team to your doorstep. Our goal: identify family strengths, reduce risk, and enhance parenting competence so every child can thrive in a safe, nurturing home
Launched in 1995 in Newton County as the first Prevention Service at Family Focus, the program was designed to prevent abuse or neglect, often avoiding DCS involvement by offering therapy, casework, and parent‑aide services before a crisis escalates.
Who We Work With
Families experiencing high stress, conflict, or behavioral concerns
Parents seeking voluntary support to strengthen family functioning
Children at risk of out‑of‑home placement who can remain safely in the home with added guidance
Households recommended by DCS, juvenile probation, schools, or medical/mental‑health providers
What You Can Expect
Comprehensive Assessment
Clinician completes in‑home evaluation of family strengths, stressors, and safety factors.
Individualized Treatment Plan
Goals are co‑created with the family to target immediate risk and long‑term resilience.
Weekly Therapy Sessions
Evidence‑based counseling with parents, children, and whole‑family groups.
Case Management
Help navigating community resources (housing, food, mental‑health care, school supports).
Parent Aide Coaching
Hands‑on modeling of routines, positive discipline, and household management.
Crisis Response
On‑call support between visits for urgent situations.
